Welcome

Hey guys!
As I am sure you have heard, due to Swine Flu, we will not be at school for at least a week. Since we know that you are dying to stay connected and continue with your school work, we have set up this blog as a way for all of us to continue our work of building communities, in “real” life, and now online.
This works out perfectly because we had planned to begin creating these online spaces for learning before these recent events, now we will work from necessity.
For the next few days, we will be posting lessons and ideas that we wish to share with you here on this blog Our hope is that you will check in at least once a day and leave comments so we know you have been here. This will be our way of taking the register.
Sometimes we will ask you to watch a video, look at images or read text and comment in the section below. Leaving a comment is simple. Follow the directions below. Find the link that says No Comments or 7 Comments and click it.

- Write your first name only
- Enter your email in the second box
- Leave the website box empty
- Copy the spam checker as you see it. Sometimes you might get it wrong and it will ask you to do it again. Do it till you get it right.
- Click submit comment.

So there you have it! Please leave a comment below so we know you are here. If you have any questions feel free to leave them as well. If you still can’t figure it out, please email me: j.raisdana@cisdoha.org c.gould@cisdoha.org

I am here! I have a question: Are we going to use the same website to pass information?or is this just a website to get us started?
[Reply]
are we doing this as homework or just to stay in touch
[Reply]
Two so far that is not bad! Let me clarify some things:
I will use this blog throughout the year to stay in touch, share resources, homework, and more. You all will eventually, once we get back in school, create your own blogs where you will store your writing, ideas, videos etc…
For now, I want to see how many students we can get connected here on a daily basis. We won’t necessarily be doing home work, but we will raise some discussion questions around readings, or photos, or videos etc…
If we get enough students connected, I hope to have daily meetings on chat rooms or video conferences etc…
For now get all your friends online and be ready to participate. You know you are bored and on the computer anyway, so let’s all be on together and see what we can learn.

[Reply]
So, how do we get our friends to partcipate?
[Reply]
I am just waiting to get most of you on here, so I know there is a “class” out there paying attention. Then I will give assignments and ways to interact.
So what you can do is make sure as many people in school, come by here and sign in. There will be a new post tomorrow.

[Reply]
This is a message about the websight work, it says to click on a certain space to the year 7 maths on the primary maths page but it wasent working. Maby it was my computer or maby there is somthing wrong with that page on the websight
[Reply]
@Gijs Tell me about it huh? We mis you guys though. A school is much better with students.
@Sean We will use this place as a way to connect each other around English topics. Not sure how much work will actually be turned in? Depends on how long we are away. In the meantime, just sign in everyday and follow the tasks I lay out.
Also Mr. H said that there was a problem with that link but it should be up by Tuesday.
[Reply]

Also please send me your new Gmail address so I know how many people have finished. I noticed that you are a Fan on the Facebook page at that is great.

Not sure what you mean. I can post any work here because I am the author of this blog. As soon as we get back, you will all create your own blogs where you can post your work.
In the meantime we will take baby steps. Step one create a gmail account.

Don’t worry about it for now. I am using it as a way to stay in touch with people. If you stay tuned here at the blog, or look to the right hand sidebar, you can read the Facebook updates. And see if there is a chat room being scheduled, for now the chat rooms are only for people having problems.
Once we get enough of you online and connected we can start to have some classes and discussions.

you dont have to, its only 4 the peeple that have facebook
I’ve found a great websight for our school to go on for maths. its a combanation of games and work it is not to challengeing and not to easy it would be good if the school got it. The websight is called study island and it would be great if one of the teachers would check it out at some point

Lot’s but I want to create conversations, so we shouldn’t use this space just to say hi or ask questions that don’t have to do with the original post. You can email me those questions.
